As a result of various articles that have appeared in the media referring to selling and leasing of lakes and water bodies in Uganda by government to private companies, the Ministry of Water and Environment would like to provide information to the public on how water bodies should be utilised and managed in Uganda. The Ministry of Water and Environment informs the public that the process of preparing the next 5-years Donor /Government programme has reach a state where all the documents have been completed and uploaded to  this homepage. Joint Technical Review 2014

The Ministry of Water and Environment sucessfully carried out its 6th Annual Joint GoU / Development PartnerTechnical (JTR) review from 23rd to 25th April 2014 in Mbale. The JTR Agreed Minutes was approved by the WESWG on 25.04.2014. The Agreed Minutes can be downloaded here:

Welcome the the Ministry of Water and Environment homepage. The Website has been redesigned and new text and files are constantly added so please check frequently for updates and information. 

Many important documents have been uploaded herunder the new Water Atlas, Minutes from JSR 2011, the SIP 2009, Updated 2012, and many other sector documents. Presently (October 2012) more than 190 sector documents and reports have been uploaded. Important sector developments, like information about the new five-year Joint Water and Environment Sector Support Programme (2013 - 2018) and the annual sector reviews are regularly updated as well as the Noticeboard where important new activities are shown.  MWE / January 2013.

Sector Performance Report 2013

SPR 2013 Report for DownloadThis is the fifth Water and Environment Sector Performance Report, which has been prepared by the Ministry of Water & Environment. This report gives in detail the achievements made during 2012/13 Financial Year by the Ministry of Water and Environment, its semi-autonomous agencies, District Local Governments and the Civil Society Organisations that are active in the sector. The report also outlines the challenges and emerging issues during the same period. Due the the size of the document, the attached SPR 2013 is for download in a low resolution version resulting in lower quality of the embedded photos.

Joint Water & Environment Sector Support Programme 2013-2018

JWESSPThe Government of Uganda (GoU) and its Development Partners (DPs) are currently implementing a 5-year Joint Water and Sanitation Sector Programme Support (JWSSPS, 2008-2013) that will end by June 2013.

This is to inform the public about the successor programme prepared for 2013 to 2018.  Present status is that the final Programme Document has been prepared and key stakeholders have signed the financial agreements in October 2013. Download the final Programme Document here:
