MINISTRY CONDUCTS SITE MEETINGS FOR SOLAR-POWERED WATER SYSTEMS IN GOBORO, LOBE & LOMUNGA RGCs, YUMBE DISTRICT


A team from the Ministry led by Eng. James Asaba Principal Engineer under the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department have conducted site meetings to review progress on the construction of 3No. solar-powered piped water supply and sanitation systems in three Rural Growth Centers in Yumbe District, West Nile Sub-region.

With funding from the Government Uganda and the World Bank, the ongoing systems aim to increase safe water coverage in underserved rural growth centers of Yumbe. The systems will supply safe water to approximately 36790 people.


1. Site Meeting: Goboro RGC.

The Ministry’s technical team, together with stakeholders, visited Goboro RGC in Kei Sub-county.

Attendance included; Ministry officials, Yumbe District Local Government, Kagga & Partners Supervising Consultant, Contrator- C & G Andijes Group Ltd and Health Counterparts International who are the Stakeholder Consultant.

Progress Update:

Construction works at Goboro RGC have reached 85% completion.

Project Scope

Upon completion, the Goboro water supply and sanitation system will serve 10 villages namely; Bulibui, Busia, Gaga, Kelunya, Lobanga, Malanga, Maru, Maru West, Monigochi and Wadri.


2. Site Meeting: Lobe & Lomunga RGCs

Progress of Works at both Lobe and Lomunga RGCs have reached 91.8% completion

Project Scope

The systems are designed to deliver clean and safe water to 9 parishes in Lomunga and 7 parishes in Lobe, significantly improving access in the two sub-counties.


The Ministry commended the Contractor, Consultants, District Local Government, and community stakeholders for the steady progress and urged continued adherence to quality and timelines as works approach completion.
