FIEFOC II

The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) under the Farm Income Enhancement Program-Project 2 (FIEFOC-2 Project) whose specific objective is to improve household incomes, food security, and climate resilience through sustainable natural resources management and agricultural enterprise development. MWE with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Nordic Development Fund (NDF) is piloting the Empowering Novel Agri-Business-Led Employment for Youth in Uganda’s Agriculture (ENABLE) Youth Program in Uganda. ENABLE Youth is a program concept developed by AfDB to focus on young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector and promote the start-up and growth of youth-led agro-enterprises in member countries.

The program aims at creating opportunities for young ‘agri-entrepreneurs’ to upgrade technical skills, adopt innovative agricultural business management practices and access expansion capital with a flexible program design that is country specific. The Ministry of Water and Environment contracted iMPACT Booster Consortium to undertake, design, validate, implementation and delivery of activities under the ENABLE Youth program within the water shed areas of Wadelai, Tochi, Mubuku II, Doho II, and Ngenge irrigation schemes in Uganda.

If you choose to participate in this program, you will be asked questions related to your personal details, educational background, mindset, and involvement in agribusinesses. The Enable Youth team mandates truthfulness in all statements provided and information shared during the application. Not adhering to this can result in exclusion from the project. When found eligible for the Enable Youth program, you will be among approximately 250 young people that will participate in the program throughout the country.

In this program we will target a total of 250 young Agripreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 years with a focus on women and support them in starting successful businesses. At the end of the 6 months of intensive business acceleration program we will provide seed investment of maximum 8,000 USD to each of the 90 most promising Agripreneurs.

The program is built upon 5 stages:

  •
  • Get ready Phase
  • Boot camp to kick off with the final selection
  • Validation Phase
  • Pitching for investment committee
