Water for Production Regional Centre – North

The first phase of the Water for Production Regional Centre – North created 405,000 m3 of

water storage and brought 88ha under irrigation through the construction of earth dams,

communal valley tanks and farmer level valley tanks as well as establishment of solar powered

demonstration irrigation schemes.

Objectives

1. To create storage of 4.0 million cubic meters of water for productive use in irrigation, livestock, domestic, aquaculture, and rural industry through construction of individual and communal valley tanks and earth dams

2. To develop 400 hectares of medium-scale irrigation scheme in Northern Uganda

3. To establish sustainable management systems on 44No. water for production facilities

4. To establish environment and watershed management in 20 hectares along the buffer zones near WfP storage reservoir sites.
